I know we complain, those of us with kids. And I know we try to give you unwanted advice. And you see the mundane, monotony of parenting when you are with us.
But every day, EVERY DAY, your child will bust open your heart to joy. It’s like fireworks in your chest. And it’s just little moments at a time, but once you have them, you can’t imagine life without them.
And we, parents, don’t talk too much about this busting open because like all of the most wonderful and horrible things in life, one just can’t describe it.
But think of this: it’s been cold for months and then a spring-like day comes out of nowhere: the smell of fresh dirt and flowers and the feel of sunshine and breeze on your face: it is all of these things, all the joy, pumping inside your chest.
Parenting is the hardest thing and the greatest thing.
